Caravan and trailer check before a summer trip

Before a summer trip, get your caravan or trailer's brakes, tyres, suspension, steering and wheel alignment checked, and have the tow vehicle serviced as well. MASC Auto Group services caravans and trailers at 5 Fairford Street, Bassendean, in Perth's eastern suburbs, and can look after the 4WD that tows it at the same workshop.

Why check it before you go

A caravan or trailer can sit for months between trips. A check before a long summer drive picks up worn parts while they are still easy to fix in Perth, rather than on the side of the road a long way from home.

What to get checked

These are the jobs our workshop does on caravans and trailers (see caravan and trailer servicing):

• Brakes. Brake repairs on caravans and trailers.
• Tyres. Tyre supply and fitting. Worth a look if the van has been parked for a while.
• Suspension and shock absorbers. Repairs to the suspension and shocks that carry the load.
• Steering. Steering repairs.
• Wheel alignment. A laser wheel alignment so the caravan or trailer handles properly and wears its tyres evenly. Good alignment improves fuel efficiency, adds stability and reduces wear on suspension parts, which matters on long-distance trips.
• Air conditioning. Air conditioning servicing and repairs.
• Hydraulic hoses. Hydraulic hose manufacturing and servicing.
• General mechanical repairs for anything else that turns up.

Don't forget the tow vehicle

The car or 4WD doing the towing works hardest on a long trip. We do 4WD servicing for your tow vehicle, so the van and the vehicle pulling it can come in to the same workshop.

2. You get a clear, upfront quote before any work starts.
3. Drop it off at our Bassendean workshop. Take a courtesy car if you need to stay mobile.
4. Unless we advise otherwise, most services are done within 24 hours.

All work and parts are covered by warranty for up to 6 months or 10,000 km. The workshop is open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5pm.
